North Island tramps
5 of us tramped this route recently and while its a good stiff climb up from the oetehake its still a long way down the gully to the hut 10 hrs in total ,next day 8hrs to the townsend hut next down to the river and back to atkins,we thought that the times were not bad as our ages ranged from 40 to 71. great weather and a great trip and I had it on my watch list for many years
