Winter 2006

Winter tramping started at Queens Birthday Weekend.

The temperature plummetted and drizzle turned to snow late Sunday. By morning the sky cleared to a hard frost and a sparkling day.

Honora had four pairs of gloves with her. Two was enough for me but I would've been happier if I'd taken my downie along.

Snow and ice seem good right now. These 30 degree days are a bit hot. Back to the cold in two weeks.

Lovely photos, Frank. Especially the second: I can almost feel the frost-heave crunching beneath my boots.

Gareth. I get caught between envying you in your tropical paradise, and wishing you back here and notching up your hut bagging total.
Pete. Thanks for your kind words. The perceptiveness and multiple skills you show on Pohanginapete make them especially valuable to me.
